Iowa City In-Home Newborn Photography

Months before these photographs were made, we documented this same family as they waited for their baby to arrive. There’s something especially meaningful about telling both sides of that story—the anticipation, and then the feeling of finally having this little person in your arms.

For their newborn session, I traveled to the Iowa City area to photograph them at home, letting home become part of the story.

Because while your baby may be the reason for a newborn session, the story isn’t only about the baby. It’s about the way Mom holds them close. The way Dad looks at them. The way a family changes around someone so small.

Photographing both maternity and newborn gave this family something neither session could have created alone: the story of waiting for their baby—and then welcoming them home.
